På utsiden er de den største leverandøren av leiesoldater og krigsmateriell i Faerûn, men på innsiden driver de med alt som kan gi innflytelse og makt uten å komme i direkte konflikt med loven. Å tilby de billigste, raskeste og sikreste tjenestene er deres merkevare, selv om det skulle bety å tape penger. Medlemmer av Zhentarim er ambisiøse og talentfulle, og tjener godt på å være trofaste mot organisasjonen. De er ofte fighters eller rogues.
